An exhibition-quality used block of the world’s first postage stamp, rich in plating varieties.
This magnificent used block of four of the 1840 1d Black from Plate 1b, lettered P-A/Q-B, boasts good to very large margins and yields a remarkable array of varieties: P-A letters re-cut, P-B original re-entry and Q-A double letters. Each stamp is individually cancelled by a crisp, clear Maltese Cross in red, and the piece is accompanied by a David Brandon Certificate. An exceptionally rare and spectacular block of the highest order.
