A very rare advertising Mulready, combining a crisp numbered cancellation with an elegant insurance overprint.
This 1840 1d Mulready advertising letter sheet, Type A21, promotes the ‘English and Scottish Law Fire and Life Assurance’ in blue and travelled from London to Margate. It bears a near-perfect No. ‘8’ Maltese Cross in black, is back-stamped ‘MARGATE NO 19 1843’ with a transit ‘NO 18 1843’, both in black, and is delightful and very rare thus.
