This 1840 1d Mulready envelope (Forme A138) is a brilliant used example carried from London to Edinburgh, cancelled by a clear and distinctive Maltese Cross in red that reveals the three dots within the cross. A clear ‘Bishopsgate Within’ straight-line hand-stamp appears alongside, with back-stamps of ‘JU 21 1840’ in red and ‘JU 19 1840’ in black. A super-quality example throughout.
