Despatched on 23 May 1843 from Moate to Dublin, this clean and neat cover carries a 1d Red-Brown on blued paper of Plate 29, boasting good to huge margins and cancelled by a superb strike of the Maltese Cross in green. The despatch date-stamp ‘MOATE MY 23 1843’ appears on the reverse in the same olive-green, alongside a red Dublin receiving date-stamp. A David Brandon Certificate accompanies this rare and outstanding item.
