A major Royal Cypher rarity — a watermark variety of which just twelve examples are recorded.
This 1913 ½d Green is a rare watermark variety, showing the watermark doubled — once upright, once inverted and reversed — on a Post Office fresh unmounted mint lower sheet-marginal example from position R20/5. A photocopy of the RPS Certificate documenting the original find of twelve examples from the lower row accompanies the stamp. Catalogued as Spec.N14(1)ea, it stands as a genuine Royal Cypher rarity.
