This 1840 1d Black from Plate VI, lettered J-B, is an extremely fine used example with large, well-balanced margins on all sides. It is neatly cancelled with a centrally struck Maltese Cross in red, the obliterator placed with pleasing precision. A handsome representative of Britain’s inaugural postage issue.
